SSF 2017 FEATURED SPOKEN WORD ARTIST MARU G

Maru

SSF ALUM 2012

Originally born in Nicaragua and raised in Miami, artist Maru G was drawn to the arts as a child through the world of dance, a world which came to an end in her late teens. Having discovered another form of art in her younger years, her love of writing grew well into adulthood, and Maru found herself yet again in front of audiences doing what she loves, performing. Whether it’s dancing, reciting poetry or even acting, the moment she steps on a stage, a transformation occurs. For her, there’s nothing like expressing passion, thoughts and emotions through performance. As a poet, she’s hosted several events, performed at international conventions and conferences, festivals, galleries, schools and has been part of humanitarian causes and fundraisers. She’s learned to live a lifestyle rooted in wellness and holistic practices, of which many ideas can be found in her work. Through her poetry, Maru hopes her experience and perspective will leave a legacy of unity, love, consciousness and hope.
